CHILDREN’S
OUTPATIENT CENTER
As part of our complete range of pediatric services, Pomona Valley Hospital
Medical Center’s Children’s Outpatient Center offers specialty clinics,
in a warm and friendly setting, for infants and children who require further
care or treatment after hospitalization. The Center’s services are also
available to all children in the region with a referral from their physician.
Pulmonary
Clinic
For infants and children with breathing problems, our Pulmonary Clinic
provides consultation, evaluation and treatment for various disorders
and difficulties, including:
-
Asthma
-
Cystic fibrosis
-
Respiratory failure
In the Pulmonary Clinic children are
cared for by a team headed by a pediatric physician specialist (pulmonologist)
along with highly skilled pediatric nurses, therapists, dietitians and
social workers.
Developmental
High-Risk Clinic
Although most infants who graduate from a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
grow and develop normally, some are at risk. Early intervention may help
these infants reach their full potential. Our High Risk Infant Developmental
(HRID) Clinic provides services for children up to two years of age as
well as information and support to their families. Infant development
is assessed in the following areas:
-
Vision and hearing
-
Motor skills (sitting, walking,
use of hands)
-
Personal and social skills (smiling,
eye contact, talking)
-
Adaptive skills (playing with
toys)
-
Growth progress (muscle tone,
reflexes)
Headed by a pediatric physician specialist,
called a neonatologist, the HRID clinic team includes specially trained
pediatric nurses, physical and occupational therapists, dietitians and
medical social workers.
